Story In Brazilian culture, self-examination is often presented as the primary exam for detecting breast cancer. However, little is mentioned about mammography, which is the most effective early detection test. How can we persuade women of the necessity of an exam that finds tumors at an early stage, giving them a better chance of being cured? To help these women understand the distinction between touch examination and mammography, we designed a display with a prosthesis that allowed them to touch and feel the presence of a small nodule. A message indicated that only 35% of women can identify breast nodules by touch. Then asked people to take a snapshot with the phone's light turned on, which revealed that the remaining 65% require a mammography.
