Why did you think it was important to join the PHNX jury this year?
I think it is important to have awards that reflect the industry and how it works. Agency Search Consultants see more agency creative than many clients and as such have a unique insight into how agencies tackle the creative task and what stand out work looks like
What do you think of our hybrid jury, featuring creatives but also strategists, clients and people from all corners of the industry?
Love it!
What do you think of the idea of free entry until the shortlist stage?
Love it! Awards should not be restricted to those agencies with deeper pockets
How would you define the perfect PHNX Awards winner?
Small - Mid Size Agency with mix of clients across man industries. Diverse creative team taking on the challenge of creating work for clients in multiple categories
What is having the biggest impact on creative trends at the moment?
Creative burnout. I believe each creative has a finite resource of creative energy and when it is misdirected it is wasted - good briefing and great clients allow creatives to shine and get the most out of their creative energy
Who would you nominate as your two or three “creatives of the year”?
For 2023...
The Last Photo (A&E DDB) for Calm - sad but so effective
Progressive Insurance (Arnold) - DR Rick - all of them are great but 'Social Listening ' is perfect for the audience
Heinz - Ketchup Fraud (Rethink) - clever use of customer insight - the creatives must have had fun with this one
