Title | Ben's Glasses |
Brief | A little boy named Ben wears an oversized pair of glasses that clearly do nothing to improve his vision. But he refuses to take them off. Concerned, his parents take him to Pearle Vision, where an optician examines his eyes. In fact Ben’s eyesight is just fine, but he wears the glasses for another reason: they were his grandpa’s, and he wears them in remembrance. Touched, the optician removes the lenses so Ben can continue to wear the special specs. |

Story | Ben’s Glasses is the story of a boy and his relationship to a pair of glasses. It’s not clear what makes the glasses important, but it’s evident they worsen his vision, and they don’t fit properly. But he wears them all day every day, no matter what. His parents are aware of the issue, and eventually, they decide it isn’t healthy. They take him to Pearle Vision, and the doctor greets them. She gives Ben a thorough examination and confirms that he can see just fine. Now Ben feels comfortable enough to share why the glasses are so special: they were his Grandpa’s, and Ben wears them in remembrance. The doctor is so moved she removes the lenses so Ben can wear them while still being able to see. The parents thank the doctor for caring not just for their son’s eyes, but for his well-being. |
