Overview

The Graphic Design Specialist plays an integral role in supporting the Campus Dining department by offering production and creative design expertise. This role involves the creation, development, and composition of print and digital materials to amplify the mission and vision of Campus Dining. The Graphic Design Specialist works collaboratively with the Assistant Director of Marketing & Communications and engages with Campus Dining staff throughout the entire process, from conceptualization to the completion of print, digital, and creative asset communication projects. Furthermore, the Graphic Design Specialist is tasked with ensuring the upkeep of a current inventory of projects and files within Campus Dining.

Responsibilities

Assist in developing communication materials that enhance the work of Campus Dining

· Conceptualize and design print collateral, electronic newsletters, invitations, promotions and other communication materials.

· Prepares copy for print, electronic, and online collateral materials.

· Ensures that all information is clear and accurate with appropriate grammar and spelling.

· Ensures that all materials carry the identity, messages, and style for Campus Dining to ensure a consistent and professional look for all Campus Dining communication materials.

· Manage the entire production process and determine appropriate timelines/deadlines for all print projects.

· Responsible for maintaining a current inventory of promotional publications and materials.

· Work with Print, Mail, and Trademark Licensing Services and outside vendors to obtain cost-effective quotes for communication projects.

· Collaborate closely with University Services Communications and the Office of Communications.

Responsible for managing and maintaining the Campus Dining website and digital screens

· Collaborates and consults with Campus Dining business and functional groups to ensure that all digital materials are current, up-to-date, relevant, and accurate.

· Maintains, edits, and updates content on websites on a daily and weekly basis.

· Content Management of Campus Dining digital screens, ensuring timely and accurate display of information.

· Composes and develops written and graphical content.

· Ensures consistency and timeliness while maintaining an exciting, dynamic web presence.

· Ensures and maintains that all information and content is correct, concise, accurate and easily navigated with appropriate grammar and spelling.

· Ensures that all websites carry the identity, messages, and style for Campus Dining.

· Create online forms and link to databases.

· Monitors internet trends and activities to develop guidelines to increase presence and improve design and usability.

· Ability to think creatively and develop out-of-the-box marketing solutions.

Produce, develop, manage, and maintain digital media content and social media presence

· Responsible for taking photographs of Campus Dining events for webpages, social media, and special projects.

· Film and edit videos for web pages, social media, and special projects.

· Support and maintain Campus Dining content for Princeton Mobile and other university-supported mobile applications.

· Use, explore, and investigate various digital media to enhance and develop content. Keep current on new technologies; recommend and implement new technologies.

Other duties as assigned include, but not limited to:

· Maintain production equipment (computers, printers, large format printers, cameras); order and take inventory of all supplies ensuring that ink, paper, and other materials are always in stock.

· Gather, record, and analyze status reports on website usage.

· Create databases for special projects.

· Attend trainings and workshops that provide professional development.

· Represent Campus Dining on University issues and committee meetings concerning web development in the absence of the Assistant Director for Marketing & Communications



Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s Degree or a high school diploma or GED plus minimum of 3 years in a graphic designer/artist role

· Proficiency and strong working knowledge of desktop publishing software such as Adobe Creative Cloud, on PC and Mac platforms

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications

· Self-starter with an eye for detail and design; creative thinking

· Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills

· Excellent proofreading ability and copy-editing experience

· Ability to focus on detail, work under pressure, and receive constructive criticism

· Must be able to maintain a high level of quality output in a fast-paced environment

· Demonstrated ability for teamwork and collaboration, and ability to work productively across a diverse group of people

· Must be well organized and able to handle multiple assignments simultaneously while meeting deadlines

· Successful problem-solver and ability to prioritize workload

· Must be willing to work some nights, weekends, and holidays

· Sit at a computer for long periods while conducting image searches, retouching photos, and editing videos

· Valid driver’s license

Preferred Qualifications:

· Demonstrated expertise in layout design, typography, and image formatting

· Proven experience in print production processes

· Proficiency in video editing for social media, website, and presentations

· Experience in communications/marketing

· Master’s of Arts (MA) or Master’s of Fine Arts (MFA) with a concentration in graphic design or media arts
